Want to learn copperplate calligraphy?

Copperplate in 8 Strokes is a free email course to learn the 8 basic strokes.

It’s the perfect first step if you:

  • Are completely new to pointed pen calligraphy;

  • Haven’t taken a properly structured Copperplate class; or

  • Learnt modern calligraphy and now want to learn Copperplate.

It doesn’t even matter if you think you have bad handwriting (trust me — mine is illegible sometimes). Calligraphy is like learning to draw simple shapes and lines, then piecing them together to form letters.

So really, anyone can learn calligraphy!

In fact, I can promise that at the end of 3 weeks, you’ll be able to write these words in Copperplate!

Here's how it works

Sign up with your email address, and the course will be delivered directly into your inbox.

Each email focuses on one basic stroke, including diagrams, explanations and traceable worksheets for you to practise immediately.

What supplies you'll need

You’ll need to prepare a basic set of pointed pen calligraphy supplies including a pointed pen nib, a pen holder, ink and calligraphy-friendly paper.

If you don’t have a set of pointed pen supplies on hand yet, you can follow along with a pencil. But I don’t recommend using a brush pen, as it creates thicker lines that don't fit the traceable worksheets.

And of course, you’ll need a printer to print the traceable worksheets!

what others are saying

Corliss

Copperplate in 8 Strokes provided me with the discipline I needed to practice the basics.

I also thought the pacing of the lessons was good. I've saved the lessons and know I will continue to refer to them!
